1. STOP SMOKING
Smoking significantly increases the risk of developing cataracts and macular degeneration.No matter how long you may have been a smoker for it’s never to late to benefit from quitting and reducing your risk of these factors.
2. EAT HEALTHILY
Maintain a healthy diet and weight as obesity is a risk factor for Age Related Macular Degeneration ( AMD )..A lack of vitamins like A and C is also a risk factor for cataracts so include lots of omega-3 in your diet.This can be found in such foods as oily fish , nuts especially almonds walnuts and pecans and also flaxseed oil.
3. NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS
Consider these supplements especially where there is a family history of AMD There are some excellent ones for eye health such as Macushield and Nutrof and these can be found at your local opticians. Also flaxseed and evening primrose oil may help those that suffer with dry eye problems.
4. WEAR SUNGLASSES
