Did you know that an Artic reindeer’s eyes change colour with the seasons.
Their eyes can change from gold to blue depending on the time of year as it helps them to see better in extreme lighting conditions.
In the Summer when the sun is shining brightly and for very long periods of time then their eyes change to gold.However in the Winter when it is almost always dark then they change to a deep blue.
This information has come to light from research that has been carried out by Universities both in this country and Norway. The colour change of the reindeer’s eyes is to do with the retina at the back of the eye.
Personally I think their eyes are deep blue in Winter as it looks good against Rudolphs “red nose ” as he helps Father Christmas deliver presents to all us good boys and girls.
