There are many myths and ” old wife’s tales ” associated with eyes and vision, some of which may have a grain of truth in them.

Reading in the dark will damage your eyes :- This is unlikely to cause any permanent damage but what it probably would do is to give you eye strain .We are designed to see detail better in the light so therefore it may cause headaches but won’t harm you.

Watching TV too closely will damage your eyes :-If you sit too close to the TV it may make your eyes tired or give you a headache especially if you do so in the dark but will not cause any permanent damage,

Your Child shouldn’t hold books to close to their eyes :– Because children have  a good focusing ability they will not damage their eyes. Some children just find it more comfortable to read close-up.

Eating carrots will help you see in the dark and improve your vision :- Carrots are a good source of vitamin A which is important for your eyes . However it is even more important to have an all round balanced diet, poor nutrition can play a part in certain eye diseases.
